If I don't start blogging about this now, it'll never happen! Just like with last years trip to San Diego, I had the best intentions of blogging about it, and I never got around to it. So, I'm starting off slow so that I don't get overwhelmed and put the whole thing off.
This vacation all started with Jared's job. He had the opportunity to go to Hawaii for work. I know that sounds like fun, but he works 12 hour days, 6 days a week. Anyways, I thought it would be fun for us to visit him while he was there. At least we would have a place to stay for free. This was one of those ideas that I didn't think through all the way! In fact, I bought the airline tickets way too early, and had I stopped to think about what I was doing, I probably wouldn't have bought them in the first place! As it was, I did buy them, and regretted it. It was way too expensive to change the tickets, so I decided to go ahead with our plans! Not only did I decide that we would do Hawaii, I discovered that it was considerably cheaper to fly out of San Diego than Salt Lake, so I decided to drive to San Diego first. My dad lives there, and he hadn't met Sylvia yet, so it was a good opportunity. Jared was already in Hawaii at this point, so that left me doing a 12 hour drive with two kids and a baby. Wow, am I nuts or what? Luckily my boys are old enough to help out with the baby, so it was ok. We stopped in Vegas on our way down so that we didn't have to drive 12 hours in one day. There's no way that Sylvia would've made it that long in a car! Who am I kidding, I wouldn't have lasted that long driving!
Here's some pictures from the first part of our trip:
Kirby helps out with the packing!
This picture is of the fire just south of Nephi
The Burger King somewhere in Cali!
Sylvie getting sick of being in the car. I love her pouty face!
At my dad's house! Finally! These are my dad and step mom's dogs, Mona and Jazz. Yes, they're pit bulls, and they are the best trained dogs I have ever seen! Sylvie was fascinated by them, and they're so sweet!
We went to the San Diego Safari Park.
My favorite part was the lions. What can I say, I'm a cat lover!
Sylvie took a good nap! I got a picture of her sleeping at every place we went, should make for an entertaining scrapbook page.
The boy's favorite part was the slushees!
I love this picture! Sylvie already wants to be a photographer! Makes me proud!
Here's the boys playing at Imperial Beach, my second home!
