Away in a Manger

I let the children put up the Nativity set. Later that night I walked by it, and noticed that something was a little off....
What kind of baby is that? I was laughing so hard!

Here is proof that we are the House of Nerds....who else would have a Lego Jesus baby!

I asked Kirby where they put the real baby Jesus, and here he is! Apparently the Wiseman is also part of a traveling circus and can balance babies on his head!
Coming soon.....Murphy's baptism pictures and lights at Temple Square, it's been a little busy here, but I couldn't resist posting this!

Look out Betty Crocker!

Let me first say this, I have never been much for cooking. I can follow a recipe, but it's not something I really enjoy. Eating is a necessity, I love to eat good food, I just like it better when somebody else makes it! Anyways, I got brave today and tried cooking some new and nutritious items! Yes, I was feeling brave!

The first new thing I tried was using a rice cooker. We got one from our wedding and it has sat in the garage for the last 8 1/2 years collecting dust. Tonight was the first time I ever opened the box! I made some tasty brown rice in that thinga-ma-jigga! It was even easy! Just takes longer....I'll definitely do it again!

The next one will come as a big shock to any of you who know me....I actually bought AND made asparagus! AND I ate it and LIKED it!!!!! Yes everyone, get out your sleds and snowboards, Hell has frozen over!

This was such a big event in my life. Last year I cooked the Thanksgiving turkey, and now I'm cooking new and healthy foods on a regular basis. Dottie and my mommy will be so proud of me!

Environmental Wetlands

There's a bunch of weeds in the open space next to our house....I mean there's some environmental wetlands by our house, and I thought I'd take some test shots in them to see if they would make a great location to take pictures. They do! There's some fun and unique spots down there. This is as close to normal as Murphy gets.....Gotta love it!
Yes, he knows how to pose!
This picture cracks me up! This is so them!
As previously noted, Murphy has a hard time not goofing off in front of the camera. I know this makes my mom happy, it's Karma for everytime I did the same thing to her!

Murphy's school work

Here's an assignment that Murphy did in school. It totally cracked me up! I love the picture! Here's what he wrote:
"This is a picture of me on vacation. While I was there a unusual thing happened at Goblin Valley. I fell on my face and got pokey's in my hand and feet."

The Trendy Portrait Look

I've been testing out camera's lately, and I got a few decent shots, so I decided to play around with them in Photoshop and do the "Trendy" portrait look. So here's the Family gone Trendy!
Dang! This kid is so photogenic! He just stands there and looks cute.

Ok, even though he's glaring at me for taking his picture (again!) I still like it!
Even our cat is photogenic! And yep, he knows it!

I think both of my children are adorable, BUT this poor child has inherited his mother's inability to look normal in front of a camera! Ask my own mother, and she will tell you that most pictures of me I am sticking my tongue out or doing something weird!

When I saw this picture of myself, I thought, "wow, when did my head become so egg shaped?" Seriously! I have an egghead! And the cat looks a little psychotic too, but hey I figured if I'm posting pictures of the whole fam, it's only fair to include myself with the high hilarity!

Valley of the Spare Body Parts!

We had a great time playing in the Valley of the Goblins!Look at these adorable little goblins!
At one point Murphy comes out running to get me, and he's yelling that Kirby is going to get hurt! I run in there as fast as I can, and yep, Kirby is stuck. Look at that kid's foot! How does he manage?

I have mentioned that our sense of humor has not matured since 7th grade...

Landscapes!

Ding & Dang

We went to Goblin Valley a couple of weeks ago, and I'm just now posting a blog about it....we've been busy! The first hike we did is called Ding and Dang, and because we're with the Crazy Rickett's, we had to go through it backwards, so it's Dang & Ding. Jared helps Murphy through one of the obsticles
There were lots of fun places that required climbing.

Murphy and his cousin Alexis have fun playing in one of the slot canyons.

Spider man!

Yeah, it looks like we wore out the boy, but after we got back to camp he was running all over again!

I had to take my own picture...

Murphy and his other cousin David getting ready to climb through a hole in the rocks.

All in the name of Art!

The other night I was laying on the floor and somewhat bored, when I looked up and thought what an interesting angle everything is from the ground! So I grabbed my camera, and here's from the viewpoint of a worm! Warning: Tammy + bored + camera = bizare results!
Nose shot of the cat!
My kitty is a licker....
I tried to force Dazey to take a picture with me, she was less than thrilled! In fact she bolted as soon as I let her go. Yep, I meant to chop off the top of her head...well, what do you expect, the camera was on the ground on self timer.....we'll just pretend I meant to do that, it's artistic, yeah artistic, what a mysetery! What does the top look like??? hmmmm???

I had a short hysterical fit of laughter over this one! I don't know why! I think it must be the look on Jared's face, the"what are you doing now?" look.

Now Buckwheat is looking at me like I'm nuts!

Just remember, I did warn you that these would be bizare pictures!

Back to school!

I know it's a little late, but thought I'd join the back to school blog bandwagon!

Here is Murphy on the first day of 2nd grade! Doesn't he look excited? Ready to tackle multiplications and every one's favorite, "the 36's"!?!!!??
A week later Kirby got to start Kindergarten. Yep, he's got his cool Bumble Bee shirt and back pack, and shades to go with it!
Kirb and his BFF Isaac!
Last week my dad and step mom came to visit from California. We took the kids to the children's museum at the Gateway. The boys had fun building things, and it was great. Afterwords we decided to go play in the Gateway fountain. Kirby didn't hesitate, just ran right in and got soaked!Murphy wasn't too sure if he really wanted to get wet...

After Kirby was good and soaked, I thought it would be a good idea to at least take his shirt off...should've thought of that 5 minutes earlier!

Murphy getting cold!

Kirby dancing in the fountain! Gotta love it!

Bumble Bee Boogie!

Kirby really likes Transformers! Bumble Bee is his favorite! We bought him this blanket yesterday, and the shirt. I just HAD to do a photo shoot with all this stuff!
Yes, he has a Bumble Bee back pack, and shirt, and shoes and yes, the kid is even wearing Bumble Bee underwear! (No photo's taken of those, I didn't want to start that!)
Dear Bumble Bee, I'm your number one fan! BWHA HA HA HA!

Yah, I probably shouldn't encourage this, but I think it's cute! He has a hobby!

Here is Murphy's contribution! His Photoshop skills are blossoming!
